DEPARTMENT OF ENT

The Department of ENT at AGMC provides comprehensive care for ear, nose, and throat conditions, along with academic training and research initiatives. It is dedicated to treating patients with disorders related to the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck, while offering specialized education to medical students.


1. Academic Curriculum

The department offers both undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (MS ENT) training, focusing on:

  • Otology (Ear): Management of ear diseases including hearing loss, ear infections, and balance disorders. Training in procedures like tympanoplasty, stapedectomy, and cochlear implants.
  • Rhinology (Nose): Study of nasal and sinus disorders, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, nasal polyps, and nasal obstructions. Surgical skills in endoscopic sinus surgery and septoplasty.
  • Laryngology (Throat): Treatment of conditions related to the throat and voice box, including vocal cord lesions, voice disorders, and airway obstructions. Training in laryngoscopy and microlaryngeal surgery.
  • Head and Neck Surgery: Surgical interventions for head and neck tumors, thyroid diseases, and salivary gland disorders.
  • Audiology and Speech Therapy: Diagnosis and management of hearing impairments and speech disorders, including collaboration with audiologists and speech therapists.
  • Emergency ENT Care: Management of ENT emergencies such as epistaxis (nosebleeds), foreign body removal, and trauma care.

2. Clinical Services

The department provides a range of diagnostic and therapeutic services:

  • Outpatient Department (OPD): Diagnosis, treatment, and management of common ENT conditions like tonsillitis, sinusitis, ear infections, and vertigo.
  • Surgical Interventions:
    • Ear Surgeries: Tympanoplasty, mastoidectomy, and cochlear implantation for hearing restoration.
    • Nose Surgeries: Septoplasty, functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), and treatment for nasal polyps and tumors.
    • Throat Surgeries: Tonsillectomy, microlaryngeal surgery, and tracheostomy for airway management.
    • Head and Neck Surgeries: Treatment of tumors, thyroid surgeries, and lymph node excision.
  • Hearing Aid and Cochlear Implant Services: Comprehensive care for hearing loss, including fitting of hearing aids and post-operative cochlear implant rehabilitation.

3. Specialized Clinics and Services

The department offers several specialized clinics and programs for focused care:

  • Hearing and Balance Clinic: Diagnosis and management of hearing disorders, dizziness, and balance issues.
  • Allergy and Sinus Clinic: Treatment for allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, and other nasal conditions using both medical and surgical methods.
  • Voice and Speech Clinic: Therapy for patients with speech and voice disorders, including postoperative care for voice surgeries.
  • Head and Neck Oncology Clinic: Dedicated services for head and neck cancers, including early detection, surgical interventions, and post-operative care.
